Oh Demon City. : )

This post is coming a little bit late, but midterms attacked me.

A while ago I got an email from Das Bunker, an industrial club on fridays in Hollywood. It's a pretty fun club and the email was talking about Demon City, their pre-Halloween party. The main event of the night was a concert from someone they couldn't name until the week of the show. I don't know about you, but whenever there is a "secret" show, of course i'm going to be there!!!

Lucky for me, I am part of Combichrist's little... army? and figured out they were the ones performing. That pumped me up even more, because I really enjoy a lot of Combichrist. I set up my outfit for the show, and treated myself to a few new things.

For some reason I thought that the doors opened at 6 or so, but that didn't seem to be the case. We got there about 2 hours early. It was a long time to wait in line, so we ended up making a few friends along the way. The group of kids behind us ended up talking to some drunk old guys, who WOULDN'T LEAVE. It was pretty hilarious when he began to serenade us with a harmonica.. Singing Ozzy. After trying our hardest not to laugh out loud at these guys and various people throwing up on the sidewalk, we made it inside.
They didn't do to bad of a job setting up for Demon City. There were lots of Halloween themed decorations in celebration and such. The main stage was definitely the best for me, they were spinning a bunch of harsh EBM. : D  I danced for a couple hours before Combichrist came on stage at 12. They did an excellent set considering the difficulties. Das Bunker isn't normally a concert venue, so they have to hire everything out. Apparently they didn't get enough stuff, or on time for that matter. But Combi didn't disappoint.
The makeup was amazing!! Andy looked nothing like he normally did. I suggest looking up some pictures from the show. He actually looked like some kind of zombiething. Very entertaining. They also did 2 encores because we wouldn't leave. THIS SHIT WILL FUCK YOU UP!!!!
When they finished their set, I made my way to the merch table to grab some goodies. Left with a limited edition poster!!!!! wooo!!!!! It's currently getting framed. I know, if you actually think about it its pretty sad.... Nahhhh. I'll post a picture of it maybe today. Just so you all can be jealous of me. : )

The drive home was pretty shitty cause I was so tired from dancing, but i'll be back at Das Bunker very soon.

KMFDM

So pretty recently my friend Dylan and I went down to LA to see KMFDM's 25th anniversary concert. Of course we have to write something up in here, so I figured I would have him do a little guest write up. Enjoy.. And thanks Dylan!!

As im sure most of you are aware of KMFDM's 25th anniversary tour and it passing through Comi-fornia... and for all of those who missed the show, you TRUELY missed out. Angel Spit was a great opener, their stage presence was spectacular, even if u dont listen to their music religiously you cant help but love them live.
But now onto the band we all know and love KMFDM, if you dont love em... go eat shit and die. I have been listening to their music for almost 6 years now, granted that is not a long time of their existence, and entitles me to no bragging rights, i am still a die hard fan and as far as i know it i'm their biggest fan hahaha. but seriously now they are an incredible band in studio BUT live they are even Better! this concert helped remind me why i love this music so much, the music was fast and hit hard. Sascha blew face off while leading off with WWIII and then continuing through a playlist that hit every song i ever idolized them for. And for the few people in crowd who didn't necessarily like the band couldn't help but enjoy the on stage presence of KMFDM especially when megalomaniac wooed the entire venue... i'm not sure i can ever describe the shear amazingness of this concert. i have enjoyed them for 6, glad they have been around for 25 and i will be their for their 50th anniversary tour 2034... ill be waiting

Industrial Elistism

Everyone's experienced it. And to a point we all have our own elitism when it comes to our music. Thats why we pick it, right? It's better than the rest haha.
The problem comes when people treat you like shit because they don't agree with your choice. Anyone that's been on forums sees the rants about these fuckheads.

It always seems to go like this:
You're somewhere and someone starts talking about music to you.
Them: "You like industrial"
You: "Definitely, you?"
Them: "hah, no way. Too mainstream for me. Do you listen to *insert intelligible band name here*?"
You: "umm... no?"
Them: "Oh, you're just another poser."

Don't you hate that? Makes me so angry. ugh.

I listen to a lot of stuff that people can judge this way.. So in turn I try not to do anything like this. Everyone has their reasons for enjoying a certain music. AHHHHHH.

so go ahead and rant on here about them for me... I have to try and study. : P
